At the mall
At the mall

Basically we had salad and bread for breakfast. We left cash behind for payment in the apartment and went for coffee at a place close-by. Recharged after the coffee we went to the MegaPark shopping mall where I splurged and bought 3 bottles of Kazakh wine. I also went to a Turkish cooking shop and got a baking tin which was patterned, it was meant for cakes but I will use it for bread. The guy serving us was from China, an Uyghur and he took out his phone and filmed me speaking Turkish.

Now that my bag was heavy, we decided to return to the apartment briefly and dump the wine and baking tin and bottle opener there. We walked first to the bank, the bank business turned out to be very complicated involving questions and passports followed by a long wait. We then went to a large park which had a large wooden orthodox church which was very nicely decorated.

Inside the cathedral there was a female choir singing in Russian, quite magical! Next to the church there was a gift shop selling religious artefacts, Stanislav bought a small cross.

At the other end of the park there was a large war memorial commemorating the dead from the USSR in both world wars, there was a large "eternal flame" too.

Next stop was "Mad Murphy's" Irish pub. Our idea was to have a quick lunch then order a taxi to the mountains and back, as that idea didn't work out it was lentil soup and day-time drinking.

After a few pints we dedicated to try to find a gift shop, but to no avail even following Google maps. We found ourselves in a large shopping mall a little bit later and fuelled by beer I bought some traditional clothes as well as shot glasses. Happy with my purchases we returned to the apartment where I tried the local wine.

The area we stayed in was blessed with beautiful area with restaurants bars and cafés we decided to go to a nice "Italian" style restaurant called "Bella Ciao". It turned out to be excellent. I ordered a pizza with 4 cheeses and the mushroom soup was out of this world. Stanislav ordered tomato soup with a sea food grill with vegetables and cheesecake for dessert. I ordered an entire carafe of Kazakh vodka which was excellent.
