Asia Tour 2026 - Day 2/25 - Baku, Azerbaijan - City 4/15 - Country 3/9
It was quite early or late depending on how you look at it when we arrived in Baku. Luckily I had changed our accommodation for a hotel at the airport, and even a pick up. Somewhere around 12:00 we checked out and I ordered a Bolt taxi to our other hotel, the Radisson and they actually let us check in early.
After a brief rest we went out and explored the boulevard, it was so hot! Given that it was -28M below sea level and at the Caspian sea, the heat and humidity was very stifling. We walked around the city, first Stanislav bought me a bottle of wine, and we went to a bookshop where we got postcards. We explored some of the shops and I bought slippers for home.
Content with our purchases we stopped for food in a restaurant. Stanislav ordered an array of vegetable dishes and a very tasty lentil soup which I also had, for my main dish I had hummus and falafel which were excellent. This was all washed down with the local beer while writing out postcards.
Next stop was the post office, where we got rather large stamps which were very hard to fit onto the postcards without blocking out the names and addresses.
After dinner we returned to the hotel. After a short rest I went to the shop and bought Georgian crisps, Bosnian peanuts, watermelon and halva. I opened the wine and we watched the history channel before sleeping.
