Asia Tour 2026 - Day 20/25 - 29th August - Astana, Kazakhstan - City 12/15 - Country 6/9
We again ordered our breakfast, I had fried eggs with toast, again, but it was better than the previous day. This was a transit day, so we hung around the hotel un check out at 12:00. The receptionist ordered a taxi for us and we quickly left the city behind. We also noticed they had a light rail system to the airport which we drove alongside.
It was a long wait in the airport, so I ordered a check beer and a Guinness, then waited around while listening to podcasts and ordered another Guinness, we had 5 hours to kill, but at 18:10 we could check in our bags and proceed to security.
The airport was smaller than we are used to. Basically a few shops and restaurants. We found the Irish Pub "Leprechaun" and ordered mediocre Fish 'n' Chips which I washed down with a hop house 5.
We wandered around few shops and bought nothing, so I decided it was time to try Kazakh wine one more time before declaring it undrinkable. Okay, I tried, thats all I will say at this point!
We boarded our Air Astana flight and had seats at the emergency exit. The service was wonderful, hot towels were served, lots of Italian wine and great vegetarian food. I tried to watch a Kazakh film called "Huh me mamma" with Russian subtitles but decided to try to sleep instead. Suddenly it seems it was breakfast time and we were landing in Korea soon!
