Asia Tour 2026 - Day 22/25 - 31st August - Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - City 15/15 - Country 9/9

We were up early and ordered an uber to the airport. I handed over my postcards to the porter who promised to post them for us. The taxi journey was again a chaos of pings and a frantic female voice.

Our check-in with T'way was smooth then we had to find breakfast. We wondered using a touchscreen where I chose a bibimbap which was a tray full of lots of little dishes, a soup, rice, spicy sauce, sugary seaweed, tofu.

We hung around the airport waiting for our flight, it was a large Airbus A330 with 2-4-2 seating. Most of the people were Korean tourists who closed off the blinds during the flight. It was early quiet compared to a European flight. The flight was 3.5 hours long.

We passed through immigration relatively quickly, but I needed cash. There were two cash machines together which were blocked by a large group of Israelis. Eventually they moved away and I was able to access and PIN some money.

The taxi journey to the city was actually very long, especially as we go caught in traffic. We arrived at our hotel called H9 and checked in a rested for a bit.

We did some exploring of the city, being 1300 M high I had some problems with my Asthma. We did some shopping taking pics along the way, eventually finding an excellent vegan restaurant.

The walk back was 3 km, and we stopped for drinks at Frankfurter Pub, which was about as German as a French Baguette.

After Frankfurter, I went to the hotel bar on my own and befriended 3 local guys, one of whom spoke english very well.
