Breakfast was actually in the building across the road. We went over at 09:45 and picked up a cold fried egg, rice, and some type of nuggets, and most of it went in the bin. They also only had cheap instant coffee, so we went to a literature café close to our hotel and had two wonderful cappuccinos.

Finding the post office should have been easy but turned into a mission; however, we did find it in the end.

We decided to go up in the cable car, and right outside there was a man selling wines just like that on the street, so I had a pomegranate wine and spoke Georgian to him, making him very happy. The steps up to the boarding station for the cable car were marked with "Welcome" in several languages, which made me happy to see!

The view of the city was amazing as we ascended to the viewing area.

It was pretty clear that summer had ended abruptly on this day, as it had cooled down considerably and the bright, clear skies had gone.

From the viewing deck, we could clearly see Turkey on one side and, in the distance, Abkhazia on the other side.

We went back down again and walked for a bit, finding a Ukrainian restaurant. I had borscht with vodka, and Stanislav had some very tasty-looking mushroom fritters. We both had Georgian beer with our meals. The sky opened up, so we ended up staying a bit longer, ordering more drinks while sheltering. We eventually had to leave as we needed to prepare for our visit in a couple of hours.

I picked up a bottle of wine, and we grabbed a taxi, stopping to find cash along the way, chatting to the driver in Georgian.

Once at our host's place, we started off with Arabic coffee, which is not roasted dark like in Europe, so it resembles tea with a much milder taste.

We progressed to red wine, and the meal was presented as a luxurious spread of a sort of pilaf of vegetables and rice, one purely vegetarian especially for me. Completely stuffed, he ordered a taxi and even paid for everything.
