Cold breakfast
Cold breakfast

I actually woke up too early, but I forced myself to sleep again until around 08:00. I returned to Fat Cat for breakfast, I ordered orange juice and cappuccino and a smoked salmon eggs Benedict which arrived very late and cold, but the gave me a free cappuccino and orange juice and even offered me "bucks fizz" but it was too early for alcohol.

I returned to my accommodation and read my book for a while before checking out and walking to the station. I checked my train and it turned out my train was going all the way to Budapest.

The train journey was pleasant, although the scenery was not as good as the previous day I enjoyed a nice little bottle of local white wine that I bought on the train. The journey to Brno was about two hours which I had in the company of two German cyclists.

As we pulled into Brno, it looked like somewhere in the Balkans, heavy industry and a large power station, I already loved it! The taxi driver was very friendly and insisted on putting all the suitcases in the car himself. I had a nice chat and he seemed amused that I travelled there overland from Rotterdam instead of flying. He dropped me off at the hotel, where I quickly removed the food I can carried all the way and placed it in the fridge and dashed out the door again to register at the polyglot event and be on time for the walking tour.

I didn't listen too much to the commentary on the walking tour as I was trying to meet people and take some interesting pics. But I do remember that Brno was invaded many many times including the Swedes, Turks, French and of course the Russians and Germans. Brno was essentially a German speaking city until quite recently.

We made our way back to the University where we had dinner and then we attended the opening ceremony in "La Grotta". It was af I was in a dream meeting old friends, meeting new friends, switching languages by the minute.
