I was ready!
I was ready!

I was up bright and early and enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I decided for some reason to take absolutely all of my camera gear and my rucksack, so two rucksacks to the university for the gathering!

I was a bit early as the talks and language table started at 09:00, so I just hung around the garden meeting people, I loved that. I made my way to the Turkish language table then the Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian table then I went back into the garden again, the best place to hang out. I bumped into Hugh an Irish guy who also spoke Irish so we ended up chatting together mainly in Irish!

We made a couple of videos together and I went back inside for the Dutch language table just before the very large group photo in the nearby park. The group photo took ages to complete, after which I decided to just hang out in the garden again where I bumped into Hugh yet again.

It is always nice to go to the language tables, so I decided to do the French table, and Hugh also joined, so that was a quick change from Gaeilge to Français. Me and Hugh hung around for a bit in between sessions just before I jumped into Matze's talk about Runes along with some myth busting about crappy Hollywood takes on this!

Of course, when in doubt, go to the garden so that is exactly where I went to chit chatting in all my languages before going to the canteen for dinner. This was also the night of the "Culinary Festival" for which I had brought but Dutch and Irish foods as well as Irish whiskey and Dutch jenever. The event was so chaotic I didn't enjoy it as I was frantically cutting cheese and the knife even broke due to the hard Dutch cheese, I was also frantically pouring jenever and breaking up chocolate bars but thanks to Hugh I coped better as he looked after the Irish table. Amidst all the chaos we had a visit from the police and an Italian guy who heard I had lived in Padova. The food went very quickly after which I escaped especially as I need to sleep early for my talk the next day!
