Day 24 - Montenegro - 25 September

Adis and me in Podgorica

After showering, we had a cheese pastry thing and a coffee. We walked little bit and stopped for coffee at the Hilton Hotel. Our guide for the day was Adis, he arrived and after another coffee we hot the road. The first stop was Centinje, where we saw a monastery and a castle which didn't actually look like a castle. After lots of talking we stopped by the Gradska Kafana which had a wonderful copper facade. We wandered back to the car after which Adis treated us to lunch at the Pećina restaurant. I had soup and pogaća bread as did Adis and Stanislav. Stanislav had chips and Adis and a burger with lots of raw onions.

We then took a spectacular drive through the mountains, into the clouds. We took serval stops to take photos. One one such stop, we were descending when we saw a bus had trouble passing sharp bend. At which point a car backed into the cliff and broke its lights!

Kotor from above

We finally arrived in Kotor, we got Adis an ice-cream and Stanislav and I wandered off to take photos and explore. After about 30 minutes in light rain, we resumed our road trip.

Sunset

Our next stop was Rafailovići. We arrived just in time for a spectacular sunset. Adis went for a swim while we took pics. The beach was rather dramatic with eroded rocks showing many strata from millions of years ago.

Evening meal

When the sun disappeared we had a a quick drink before heading to the restaurant "Tri Ribara". You pick out a fish and the cook it for you. Our starter I had home made cheese, and Stanislav had soup. I ordered I litre of Podgarsko Vino. I used lots of garlic pasta on both the cheese and the fish. Adis knew the owner, so they offered us a half a litre of local wine, but I declined and took a local rakija instead.

We hit the road again listening to local music that I was sure my mother would have liked. The whole time Adis kept calling me professor. When we arrived in Podgorica again, I decided to go to the local gay bar, Bar Berlin. I had one drink there before returning to the bar close to our accommodation. I ordered a wine again and observed some internet hysteria. Time for bed.
