Day 25 - Podgorica to Belgrade - 26 September 2019

Our last train ticket

We rose early and went downstairs to have a coffee. I had a croissant and Stanislav had a cheese pastry. To make life easier we got a taxi to the railway station. We spoke to a couple of Germans who had taken the place of aa homeless guy. I went into the station to ask where the train was leaving "koji peron? Treći / 3rd". The train was more or less on time but some people had occupied our reserved places. We an exchange of bad language we eventually sat down.

Stanislav and Max

We eventually made friends with Max. Max is a German from Bavaria, but now lives in Berlin. We passed a lot of nice scenery. We also noticed the Swiss guy and his Dutch wife that we met in Albania also taking photos. We needed to be quick to take photos in a moving train as we kept entering tunnels. For food we ate our picnic, crackers from Albania and peanuts from Serbia. Eventually a guy came around selling beer so I got a can of beer for me and max, and a juice fro Stanislav.

The border with Serbia

We eventually arrived at the border, we bumped into the Swiss guy and the Dutch women, at which stage we ended up speaking Italian, German, Bosnian, English and Dutch! The guards from Montenegro checked our passports. After what seemed like a long time we moved to the Serbian side and stopped at a monastery.

Some scenery

At this stage, the toilet on the train was overflowing. We had departed at 10:00, as we continued onwards towards Belgrade the size of the mountains decreased and the toilet smell increased. The sun went down and I finished reading my book. The railways station "topčider" was in the woods in the middle of nowhere. We got a taxi to Beogradksa 41 and made our way to pizzeria 'Alo 'Alo fro dinner and a nice wine. After a nice meal we returned to the hostel for a nice sleep.

I a word: #Воз
