Day 3 - Tuzla - 4th of June 2023

Wonderful Cheese Omelette

I was again late on receiving Omer's messages. I headed towards the Pizza place from the previous day which was also beside a mosque close to Omer's old family business. I order a coffee. When he arrived, we moved to another place close by and he ordered a wonderful cheese omelette for my breakfast.

After breakfast I took a walk, taking photos and also bought close in the market, they were also very surprised that I spoke their language! Omer contacted me again, and we went for beers at kafana sloboda listening to music in the Balkan sunshine.

I love Tuzla

After he left, I decided to walk back towards the "I Love Tuzla" monument, past where I bought the DVDs and stumbled upon a really cool music shop. It looked very much closed, but then the owner appeared out of nowhere and when he opened the door, it was a Yugonostalgia paradise. He really did look like a "rock-n-roller" with long grey hair, and his place was decorated with pictures of him with various Bosnian and ex-Yugo bands like Bijelo Dugme. I also noticed a large Tito calendar at which point he gave me one too!

According to the internet there was also an Irish bar with great things written about it, it turned out that they only did takeaway food. As I needed the loo, I decided to go to the local brewery. I had just one beer there before heading back to bar Gajba. The bar was rocking, and there was a local guy called Séamus, along with a bar tender and some other guy sitting towards the rear of the bar and of course Snježana the waitress who I called "Snow Queen". I started off with bars and switched over to Graševina and had a lovely time chatting and laughing with my new friends. It turned out Séamus had wonderful English as his mother was a teacher.

At Gajba earlier on

I dropped off some stuff at the apartment before heading off again to have pizza at the place where I had been with Omer. When I finished I returned to Gajba just as Snježana was closing up. I just returned to the apartment and had some red wine before sleeping.
