Day 5 -Padova, Fossò, Cinema - 06 September 2019

View from my room

The plan was to go to Dolo by bus, the hit the hills i Colli Euganei . I got up and had a shower, somehow I think I got in the wrong shower. On the way bumped into the "Signora in Nera" standing in the kitchen doorway. Why did it feel like she was waiting for me all night? I explained the money mix-up and she was have none of it! A guy in his 40s arrived, Antonio. I had already had contact with him. He seemed okay with my explanation.

Streets of Padova

I walked the long way to the station, trying to find a "libreria" which stock "Il Systema Peridoco" by Primo Levi. I walked by the university again, then onwards to the station to get the bus 53E. I had already purchased an electronic ticket, I felt like a real local. The heavens opened up, so as I explained to Sabrina it was less "cats and dogs" and more "dinosaurs and hippos". Sabrina was totally amazed at the "follow me" function on the iPhone.

Dolo in the rain

I arrived in Dolo in torrential rain (see top photo) just as venetian style bell was tolling. I was busy making a film when Sabrina pulled up in her white car with Federico, who was no longer a little boy! When we arrived in Fossò, Sabrina was preparing a pasta dish while we chatted, dilemma; which pasta shapes should be used? The neighbour arrived in and the daughter was speaking English as she needed some practice. We bid farewell to the neighbours and we enjoyed "oriechiette" with bread rolls and some rosato wine. All the time the Simpsons was playing in the background in Italian. As the weather was crap, I suggested the cinema. Nicolò, Samuele and Federico went to some Hollywood action thingy. Sabrina and I saw "Mio Fratello Rincorrre I Dinosauri" a true story about a family with a boy with Down's - we cried.

Next a quick trip home, all the while Sabrina was still irritated by Sunday drivers. A quick turnaround and we went to a restaurant called Venexian with fake exteriors of buildings from Venice complete with boats, all indoors mind you!

The service was super fast. I ordered a pizza Giudecca in honour of the island with lost of rucola and olives - amazing! Samu had the Margherita and the other two boys (men) had pizza with potato I never saw potato on a pizza and it tasted wonderfull too!

Outside the restaurant

After the meal, Sabrina dropped me back to Padova. I dropped my bags at Casa Roma and tried to find the gay night club "Anima" but Google maps sent me to some Industrial zone 40 minutes walk away. Now too late to contemplate Anima, a message comes in from Sabrina, but I am trying to find familiar territory. I get lost on the way and finally I see via Altinate a familiar street to me. I got home at 01:00 in the morning!
