Day 8 - Gorizia to Zagreb - 09 September 2019

Nova Gorica Station right on the Slovenian-Italian border
I woke up to a guy banging my door. I was probably snoring. Next thing I noticed the sharp pain in my left arm and abdomen. The two falls from the previous night were worse than I thought. Basically I did not sleep for the rest of the night. I eventually fell asleep again, but when I woke again I could barely move. I did manage to shower and to dress and to pack my bag. I was supposed to walk to Nova Gorica but I got a taxi instead. The taxi driver kindly helped me with my bag.

An example of Slovenian scenery
Nova Gorica is right on the border, so I of course took some photos. I bought my ticket and my journey would take me to Jesenice right up at the Austrian border where I had to change trains. I ordered a cappuccino and after a while I noticed the two Dutch guys again. When we finally boarded the train we made our way through some very spectacular scenery.

Me and Vesna
The second leg of the journey was not quite so spectacular. In Zagreb I got showered and went to Medved Pivnica where I met Vesna. She insisted that we speak Croatian the whole evening. I had a beer and some trganci with cheese, and also more cheese for my starter! After just one beer I return to my rented apartment and took an ibuprofen and slept.
In a word: #bol
