While in Munich I pondered either Dachau concentration camp just outside the city, or a trip to the mystical castle of Neuschwanstein in Füssen. A bunch of us from the hostel decided to travel together, it would take a couple of hours to get there. The train was not a large electric train, like the ones I was used to, but a smaller local train powered by diesel. The humming and revving of the engine combined with the clickety clack of the rails almost send me into a trance as we climbed the foothills of the alps, and more and more alpine cows came into view.

Once at the castle, and its sister castle Hohenschwangau, I was not disappointed at all. What probably did surprise me was my immediate love of the Alps, I turned around, and even with my crappy camera somehow this picture does it justice. I was smitten by the alps.
