Friday 26th August 2022 - თელავი

At 09:00 we headed down for breakfast, I was pretty much still drunk! It was the usual sumptuous spread. After breakfast I tried to sleep a bit, but ended up reading for ages, a book about Georgian wine in Georgia! I decided to get showered and continued reading outside in the sun and waited for Stanislav to return.

Marcel and Lascha

He went swimming in the pool and I continued reading. I paused for a bit when I heard chatter, so I walked towards the pool where a darkish skinned guy and a milky white guy were talking to Stanislav in German.

We continued chatting and they shared some khachapuri and beer with us and dried fish, I skipped the dried fish. I went to the local shop and stocked up on more beer as well as snacks. Being in the "Wine Hotel" I decided to ask for some wine too! The night progressed with Marcel and Lascha, Lascha being a Georgian native and they both lived in Augsburg in Germany now.

More people joined our "supra"

They let me be the Tamada for the evening where we spoke about everything, ending in life and death. When it came to loved ones who had passed away, we dipped some Georgian bread in the wine as a mark of respect. We all laughed and cried together deep into the night and felt we had made new friends.

What a wonderful night, we shed many tears. That's what good friends and good wine do.
