Georgia Day 6 - Batumi

For breakfast some Turkish simit, those round bagel like things with sesame seeds and some juice too. The mission was to find cash and coffee. We travelled by foot and left the boulevard towards what looked like a terrace, but it wasn't. We kept walking and finally found a place for coffee. The woman seemed to feel sorry for us, as we got Turkish style coffee with lots of sugar - for free! A little but further and I noticed an old lady selling kvas, a kind of light beer made out of bread. I stopped and ordered a small glass of kvas for 40 cents and had a small chat with her in Georgian.

I felt we were not on the correct path, so we made our way towards a large office building and a McDonald's. Stanislav stopped a Russian lady and asked her in Serbian where the bank was, "Tamo" she said, and we walked about 100 M to find a large shopping mall. We withdrew some money and continued towards the city centre. We bought two pints of cold beer and I also got some home made wine in an unlabelled plastic bottle.

We eventually found the city centre, with the large moving statues of Ali and Nino, these were slightly disappointing compared to what on the internet was. Stanislav paid for two tickets on the big wheel.

We found supermarket where I asked for a packet of earthquakes, but meant peanuts, but she understood. We found a taxi straight away and for 15 lari returned to our apartment. When we arrived first my phone went crazy with messages, then a Ukrainian lady was hysterically telling us that we had entered the wrong apartment. I very quickly emptied the fridge and the cupboards and went to the correct apartment. Ten minutes later she came knocking on the door again and this time it was because I had forgotten my dirty laundry! Dinner was she gorgeous Georgian cheese and bread, and wine.
