Saturday 20th August - ბათუმი
I slept in and left the place at around 12:00 having finished reading a chapter of my book. I went to the end of the airport runway which was close to our apartment. I bought a freshly squeezed orange juice, wonderful! I waited with a large group on Russians as a plane took off over our heads.
Watching a plane take off
I walked on towards the city centre and found the same kvas vendor, but the little old lady wasn't there. This time I bought a large glass from an old man and continued towards the Irish pub which I found on the internet. I made a pit-stop to do some wine tasting, I bought a bottle of wine for 50 lari, and the price suddenly dropped to 30 lari probably because I spoke Georgian. He then offered a free glass of white wine as he was happy to have someone who spoke his language.

I finally made it to Mary's Irish pub, with the air-conditioning I realised that I my t-shirt was sopping wet from sweat. I spoke to the Russian barman who spoke English with an almost Irish accent. While sipping a beer, I contacted my gayromeo date and we had a couple of beers together before walking to the beach.

On the way to the beach he decided that we should walk arm-in-arm which enraged a passer-by who rammed into us violently. At the sea, he went for a swim and I watched on. We finished up in a rather cheque beach club with the lord mayor of Gori and some famous singer too. He said he wanted to treat me to a beer, but at the last minute he asked me to pay up!

My date and me
It was some 30 minutes by foot to the restaurant Acropolis, and on the way got a lovely cappuccino. I had missed couple of messages, Stanislav would be a little late. I ordered an entire bottle of Saperavi and a pile of cheese and bread. An hour and a half later Stanislav arrived. I had bread with red ajika sauce and amazing mushroom soup. Stanislav also ordered potatoes and we finally finished off with two glasses of chacha.

We made our way down to Mary's Irish bar again where the barman said I looked wasted. After a couple of white wines I realised I was actually wasted and ordered a taxi.
