Sunday 21st August 2022 - ბათუმი
I stayed in the apartment until late, washing clothes and after headed up to do plane spotting at the airport runway. It turned out that a plane was supposed to arrive at 14:30 and I saw a small plane arrive, assuming I was too late, I turned 180 degrees and walked towards the old city. After ten minutes I saw a rather large plane arrive. I continued onto the Acropolis restaurant where I ordered a gorgeous salad with tomatoes, cucumber and walnut dressing. I also ordered a cappuccino and a series of breads, I was definitely not dissapointed!

Brunch in Batumi
I continued on and ordered a coffee from a little old granny, it was a small package of instant cappuccino which was sickly sweet and awful. I took a side street and found a lovely hippy-style wine bar where some Russian girls worked. I had one white wine and continued towards Mary's pub.

At Mary's Irish pub in Batumi
I immediately got talking to Sam, the Irish owner from Dún Laoghaire and a South African guy from KwaZulu Natal. We got on well, as it turned out he was a language teacher on iTalki. I switched from wine to beer, then back again. We touched on such subjects as C19 and lockdowns.

Speaking Georgian to some guys from Tbilisi
Stanislav arrived at the pub and I continued talking to some Russian guys and 3 guys from Tbilisi. I ordered some fried brown bread and a dip with raw garlic - yum! A guy called max started handing out books in English written by a local author who moved to Batumi. I bought the author two pints in advance as he was sick at home. In the meantime Giorgi our new driver mad been messaging us, I I assured him that all was well. We then asked for a taxi which Sam also paid for.
In a word #დიდიმადლობა
