Cappuccino at Du Commerce

I had booked a late check out at my hotel in Weert so after breakfast I hung around for a bit then posted my postcards in the city. I grabbed a coffee at Du Commerce and was earlier than expected for my trip to Maastricht.

I was initially thinking of going to Visé in Belgium, just across the border only 16 minutes from Maastricht. I had just missed a train which meant hanging around for 30 minutes for the next one. Upon considering all my options I decided a relaxed two hours in Maastricht was better.

As per usual, I decided to but postcards and went for a wander around the city. On my travels I heard a lot of different languages being spoken, French and German were to be expected but I also heard Georgian too! As I didn't have so much time I picked a nice terrace and ordered a glass of mediocre Pino Grigio and wrote my postcards. I decided to stay put so I ordered the mushroom pasta, also mediocre. I walked back to the station and caught the bust to the airport.

When the bus stopped at "airport" I had a second take, where was the airport, yes the shed like building right next to me. I went inside and there were signs to apologise for the state of the airport but the only available thing was cold drinks from a vending machine.

Maastricht Airport

I was first past security and also discovered that there were no operating shops, so not presents for my friends in Bosnia, just ring pulls and magnets. I had some wine and waited for the flight to be called.
