On the night of the 12th, I treated myself to a couchette from Lucerne to Paris feeling the end of my travels. I was in need of comfort. I had arrange to meet the French student Sébastien in his home city of Rouen, also home city of Joan of Arc. He picked me up at the station in his Citroën 2CV, but he laughed when I I called it a 2CV in English as you need to say it the French way which sounds like two horses in French.

I arrived at the family home and when I insisted that I take a shower being all hot and sweaty from my trip from Switzerland his mother refused. So I washed from a tiny enamel basin.

We had a tour of Rouen and saw the scars of world war 2.
