Cold Arrival

I must admit to not being entirely enamoured by Venice. Having left Rome with its stifling temperatures, I was actually cold in Venice, I was to stay an entire day in Venice, now being the first of September there was a slight chill in the air.

Despite what should have been for many a wonderful experience, I had not slept at all on my overnight journey. I bought some bread and cheese and some mineral water, and tried my best to make the best of it. I was taking photographs, but only because I felt I had to!

As the day drew on I got decidedly tireder and tireder, and actually tried to sleep like a homeless person in some doorways, but it felt completely wrong. Venice was cold, dirty and unwelcoming. It would take me the 1992 to actually change my mind about this.

Finally having spent the day walking around Venice aimlessly, and trying to sleep in doorways I made my way to the train for Vienna! I had concluded that I didn't like Italy, at least this visit!
