Joanie and Paddington Bear

Everyone was up early to give and receive presents. Joanie got a smart watch, and I gave Joanie and Holly books, one a piece of fiction, the the second one a Dutch cookbook. I also got gay socks from Feargal! Breakfast was huge and consisted of a big fry-up for everyone, I had scrambled eggs and toast.

Tea time at Feargal's mother's place

After breakfast we go showered and dressed and headed to Feargal's mam Maura, in Inchicore. His two sisters Dolores and Maria were also there, also Killian the cousin and Robbie was there too. Typical of a proper Irish house, everything happened in the kitchen, tea and coffee was prepared and lovely chocolate biscuits were served. There was also cake, including home made marble cake. In the middle of the tea and biscuits, the fire brigade arrived. They were called out to rescue one of the neighbours, an old lady who fell. They had to come through the kitchen and climbed over the walls to break down teh door. We could even feel the vibrations.

A quite moment together

After Maura's we travelled up to Bohernabreena cemetry to see mam's grave as well as auntie Marie's.

Waiting for dinner

In Erica's we started with some drinks at around 16:00, the Rob came in with his mother Dor and his auntie Nora, both intheir 90s. The table was decorated beautifully, with Christmas candles and little decorations for the wine glasses. The wine bottles were dressed up with little jackets, and hats. Everything was cooked to perfection, but the mashed potatoes deserved special mention!

My Christmas Dinner

After dinner came dessert, either a tart, a black forst gâteau or a trifle. I chose the trifle.

Actually a bottle of wine!

Later on Heather started playing records and out came a small selection of my dad's and my own record collectiom including "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies which was my first ever record from 1969.

At the end of the night, the chocolat wine was opened after which I retired to bed, the others kept on going until 05:00!

In a word #Grateful
