I didn't sleep so weel in Lyon. I ended up getting up very early and took the metro to the railway station, Gare Lyon Part-Dieu. Lots of us waited around for the platform letter to be displayed - yes A, B, C. I then saw "Bourg en Bresse" displayed. I remembered Nathalie a French student that I used to write to. She was from Oloron Ste. Marie in the Pyrenées, but she later moved to Bourg en Bresse in the Alps.

View of the alps
Finally the my platform was displayed, "Milano Garibaldi - platform E". I position myself on the platform so I could find my correct carriage. I was assigned to carriage 7, seat 22. I got some very nice views of the Alps. I have to say that travelling from Austria to Verona was much more spectacular! At some stage the "Douane" arrived and stared to confiscate suitcases so I go a little bit worried. All of the announcements were in French up to the border and continued in Italian thereafter. I must say that some of the small towns on the Italian side very very interesting!

Train from France to Italy
The train arrived in Torino Porta Susa which didn't look that impressive at all. It was a very modern station surrounded by lots of office buildings.

Eternal staircase up, up, up
I walked to my rented accommodation past wonderful porticos with posh cafés and shops. People seemed full of life while drinking coffee, wine or beer. One woman was eating farfalle with tomato sauce and it looked amazing! I finally arrived at the accommodation and after a short wait I was shown inside. A steep winding staircase, up, up, up, up with the heavy bags. The owner kindly explained to me what and where and I showed before heading into the city.

Mole Antonelliana
I started exploring the city and ordered an espresso and a piadino. I found my way to the Mole Antonelliana. There was a massive queue for the "museo del cinema" so I skipped that. The rest of Torino consisted of lots of statues of people on horses telling us how great Italy once was! It seems that the Italian Royal family were here too. I even saw a plaque celebrating the re-conquest of Istria.... ahem.

Wine at Caffè della Scienza
Idecied to call it a day, I ordered a nice barbera wine in "cafè delle scienze". I wandered off afterwards to a bookshop and finally PAM supermarket and got wine, cheese and bread "la santa trinità" I went back to my room and just relaxed a bit, listening to music.

Jumping Jester Pub
I did decide to go out afterwards to a pub which was described as "Northern European" called "Jumping Jester". Nothing special here, just lots of students and cheap beer served in plastic beakers and some students getting drunk on multi-culoured shots, very Northern European!

Chocolate gelato
I went back on the short walk "home" and treated myself self to a chocolate ice cream!
In a word: #troppo
