Czechia 2026 - Day 09 - Tuesday 2nd June 2026 - Polyglot Gathering 2026 - Day 09/09 - Brno - The Netherlands

The journey After midnight I was woken up by a German guard "Ausweis Bitte" so I gladly produced my Irish passport which he examined throughly flicking through all my stamps. He asked where I was going and I said "Schiedam" and he asked again but after repeating "Schiedam" twice Is said Amsterdam and he seemed much calmer. The train We were also joined by a very big German guy and our knees kept clashing. I tried desperately to sleep and as I noticed someone sleeping on then

Czechia 2026 - Day 08 - Monday 1st June 2026 - Polyglot Gathering 2026 - Day 08/09 - Brno - Going Home

Saying goodbye I rose at 08:00 and went down to a large round table where Max the Syrian American and some others were already seated. I helped myself to some Czech anti-hangover garlic soup - highly recommended! Then the usual scrambled eggs and fried mixed vegetables and various cheeses and breads. Brno Station I went back to my room to rest a bit before packing up and going to the reception where young Max and Syrian Max still had their language badges on, we just hung aro

Zagreb to Osijek - Day 8 - Thursday 4th September 2025 - Balkan-Georgia Trip - Day 8/34 - City 7/20 - country 6/11

Sunrise in Zagreb I didn't sleep well despite my early night. I had a bad nightmare where I lost my wallet. The nightmare was very realistic, so I jumped out of bed at 03:00, looking for my wallet in a panic. I returned to bed and got up after very little sleep at 06:00, finished the packing, and went outside to post my postcards as the post office was just opposite. O

Zagreb - Day 7 - Wednesday 3rd September 2025 - Balkan-Georgia Trip - Day 7/34 - City 6/20 - country 6/11

Zagreb in the morning After such a night, it was hard to get up. Eventually, when I did, I decided to visit the 80s museum, being a teenager in the 80s and a fan of Yugonostalgia. I was really looking forward to it, but when I arrived, it was closed due to filming. Disappointed, I walked for a bit and stumbled upon a wine bar, so I had to stop and ordered a Graševina, but I have actually had much better. The Hangover Museum As the hangover museum "Muzej Mamurluka" was close,

Ljubljana to Zagreb - Day 6 - Tuesday 2nd September 2025 - Balkan-Georgia Trip - Day 6/34 - City 6/20 - country 6/11

Women and Men The day started with a quick breakfast at a café close by and writing the diary from which I transcribe this blog. I usually check my expenses over coffee. I realised that I spent 120 euros in bar Mačkon, but I did say "I will pay for everything," and they took it literally. There was nothing I could do, but a previous version of me would have been very upset with himself and everyone. At least we all had a good night. I even turned down the offer of drugs from
